Help Wanted

As many of you know, I'm jet setting to the West Coast for a Californian vacation at the end of this month - leaving the blog unattended. That's where you come in. I'm looking for nine to 13 bloggers to guest post while I'm gallivanting.

The Topic
Share your top five summer essentials for 2010. Maybe your must-haves include a passport for a European jaunt, a tube of sunscreen or a pair of glittering earrings - just show us what you're coveting this season.

The Requirements
  • Either create a collage of five items or send five separate images of your selections. Please size the images to 400 pixels wide.
  • Draft a written portion describing what you're choosing and why.
  • Include the URL for each item - I'll link to the items in your description.
  • Include your name, title of your blog and your URL - I'll link to your site.
Interested?
  • First, send an e-mail to me at JessicaStyleObsession@gmail.com and let me know you'd like to take part. I'll put you on the schedule.
  • Send your post to the above e-mail address no later than Wednesday, June 16, 2010. (Kudos to those who send something earlier!)
Look Forward to Posts From ...
The creative minds behind these blogs: 20something Cupcakes, A Wonderfelle World, Amy's Afternoon Reading, Cafe Fashionista, Chic on the Cheap, Closet Fashionista, Fashions on the Fly, I Don't Think Prada is the Answer They're Looking For, Lovely B., Narcissista, SogniSorrisi, Steak & Cakes, The Iconic Blog, The Pink Boudoir

Update: It didn't take long to fill each of the spots! I'm so thankful for the support - and excited to share their posts!

One More Request
Nate and I are flying into Los Angeles. We're staying in the area for a few days to attend a wedding before embarking on a Californian road trip to the redwood forest. We'll loop back down for our flight departing from LAX in early July.

This means we'll have an amazing opportunity to explore the state. Please send along any suggestions for the trip: ecological must-sees, quaint towns with incredible restaurants, the best place to pick up seashells, unique shopping destinations, ...

Thank you!

  4. Oh, how exciting! I hope you and Nate have a fantastic time in Cali. I don't think you'll be far enough north for me to recommend any places to you. Norcal is my stomping ground. :)

  6. How exciting! Sounds like it's going to be a great trip. What part of LA will you be visiting? You should make a trip to Sprinkles if you like cupcakes and Mastro's is the BEST steakhouse around (both in Beverly Hills). The Malibu and Manhattan beaches are both amazing. There are awesome hikes in Hollywood and in the Palisades. Sushi Roku and Katsuya are my favorite sushi spots. E-mail me if you have specific questions or are looking for a certain type of activity/food.

  10. Jessica - I've been thinking about this all morning. As someone who is not a native of SoCal and from a quiet place I can give you a blend of everything if you'd like. Let me know what kind of food you like and if there's anything specific you're looking to take in and I'll see what I can do.

    xoxo

  16. Hey! If you'll be up this far North, which I think you will be because of the redwoods, definitely stop in Big Sur and Carmel! definite must-sees/dos!

  17. There's lots to do in LA! I've been in LA for almost a year and I still have my own To Do List.
-Tons of outdoor activities at the beaches (Venice, Palisades, Newport, etc) like hiking, snorkeling, kayaking.
-Drive around Hollywood and see the Grumman's Chinese Theater, Runyon Canyon, Walk of Fame, etc.
    -Old Town Pasadena.
-Santa Monica (Pier, 3rd Street Promenade shopping, shops along Main).
    - Other shopping areas: Citadel, Americana, Glendale Galleria (next to Americana), The Grove, along Melrose, Fashion District (downtown LA).
    -The Getty Center (Los Angeles)
    -The Getty Villa (Malibu)
    -Wine Tasting in Santa Barbara
    -Solvang - Dutch Village

Here are just a few things I've done and still want to do. I hope it helps. Feel free to contact me with questions, etc.

  18. Oh, and if you go to SF, stop by Tartine Bakery and Cafe if you can. There might be a line out the door, but it's worth it.

On the way from LA to SF, my friend stopped at a house that belonged to an art collector, which has now been turned into a museum. I forget the name...
