Splurge or Save?

As much as I love Kate Spade, I'm not sure I could justify full price for the patent Vonya sandals at $225 when this pair from Caravan* is a dead ringer for just $68.93.

*If you're smitten with mint, there's a pair available in that hue for $98.48

On Bedknobs & Baubles: a macaron trinket box and a breakfast treat.

Springtime Saturdays mean one thing: the start of the farmers' market. Bring home your goodies in one of these produce-inspired totes. Try the citrus print bag ($55) from Aldo for an affordable option. If you're ready to splurge, the fruit and veggie tote ($295) from Anya Hindmarch is an equally cute option.

On Bedknobs & Baubles: the citrus print is even more irresistible in this must-have item; Club Monaco launched its e-commerce site today - here are my picks!

As much as I love this Mawi ring, it's out of my price range at $4o5. Fortunately, you can get the same look with this statement ring from Topshop for just $18.

On Bedknobs & Baubles: a to-do list for this year's "bonus day," a whimsical tray, and snapshots from last week.

April showers may bring May flowers, but retailers are doing a fine job on their own with a bouquet of floral rings - the perfect accessory for your springtime cocktail parties. Test drive the trend with Forever21's Clover Ring for only $5.80 (worn here) or invest in a quality version with Kate Spade's Posy Ring for $125.

If you've ever dreamed of being part of Robin Hood's band of merry gentlewomen, I have the dress for you: the Unbridled Passion Dress, a forest green frock for under $70, offered by Modcloth. Although, it seems that the design may have been robbed from the richly created Pleated Silk Dress by Undercover to give the poor a wallet-friendly option. All that's missing is a bow and arrow - and a cute guy in tights. (Okay, fine, "equestrian" might be the most accurate description of the dress, but that makes it less whimsical, doesn't it?)

With the holidays swiftly approaching, what better way to adorn yourself than with a festive cocktail ring. After all, you'll be toasting glasses of champagne, clutching mugs of hot toddies and sipping hot chocolate - keeping that ring prominently on display, twinkling in the candlelight. Try a starburst cocktail ring this year for a bit of retro appeal. The rhinestone rays of the Charlotte Russe version is perfect for all of you magpies. For a healthier investment, the Kate Spade version (now on sale) will bedeck your finger for years to come.

I don't have to tell you that clogs are making a strong resurgence in the sartorial realm. With wooden platforms, supple leather and nail head details, I can see the appeal. Miu Miu's clog is undeniably luxurious - but has a $495 price tag that not many of us can justify. Luckily, retailers are beginning to release versions inspired by our runway favorites. Steve Madden's pair retains the flavor the luxe version with the curved leather details, but opts for a nude-colored leather that will elongate legs. Will you save or splurge?

I'd also like to take a moment to thank Bren of Chasing Beauty for the Stiletto Award! If you haven't read her blog yet, what are you waiting for? Bren has a knack for singling out amazing beauty products to try.

Thanksgiving may be a month away, but I'm already looking forward to the holiday gathering - and the holiday table setting. Either of these salad plates add a touch of elegance to your holiday table with their metallic, ethereal designs. The wallet-friendly Target version is made of porcelain with a silver metallic branches. (Be careful ordering online, however. The reviews indicate that the design received was different than the one pictured.) The indulgent Kate Spade Primrose Hill accent plate is made of fine bone china with contemporary gold vines.

I've already confessed my love for the Steve Madden Tayla pumps and the crush hasn't fizzled. This version comes in purple, black and grey (my favorite). If you're itching for more color options - or just an inexpensive alternative - try the Michael Antonio Lennox pump.

Normally I wouldn't draw parallels between less-than-demure Paris Hilton and prim-and-proper Deborah Lloyd of Kate Spade, but their shoe lines are another story. Each designer has included an on-trend metallic pump with a whimsical satin bow. The Paris Hilton Destiny Pump is the perfect party shoe and comes in a bevvy of colors on Zappos (but the featured color is a little cheaper at Macy's). The Kate Spade Guest Pump wins my heart, however, with its slingback and refined ribbon detail.

Save or Splurge?

I rarely stumble across items that are similar enough to warrant a "Save or Splurge" post, but this morning's e-browsing* inspired one.

I'm normally a proponent of large cocktail rings that make a statement. But I'm tempted to go a more subtle route with one of these latticework rings. The Kate Spade Deco Lace Ring on the left is a little more intricate, made from base metal plated in rose gold, and comes in sizes 6, 7 and 8. The Korcula Laura Ring looks more substantial, comes in either rose or yellow gold, and is available in sizes 4 through 9.

Personally, I'm leaning toward the Korcula version. I like that it's not mass marketed and it's from an independent designer - it makes it feel more special. Which one do you prefer?

*E-Browsing: (verb) to leisurely shop online without the intent to buy. Example: I try to abide by the rule to shop often, but buy rarely - leading to a lot of e-browsing.
