{ this or that }

Over the last year, I've saved gift money to use toward something ridiculously indulgent - and now I'm looking for just the right item. I've narrowed it down to two bags. While this is hardly a problem, I'm a bit torn over which one to splurge on.

In the left corner, we have a Diane von Furstenberg minaudiere ringing in at $285.

Pros:
  • Elegant
  • Eliminates the need for another evening clutch for a long time
  • Smitten with navy and gold
  • Makes my heart go pitter patter
Cons:
  • Will use sparingly
  • Tiny - just the right size for lipstick, iPhone, cash, and not much else

On the right, a Kate Spade handbag coming in at $295.

Pros:
  • Gorgeous color
  • Practical
  • Daytime appropriate
  • Will use often
Cons:
  • It doesn't feel like a splurge since it's so practical
  • Slim - how much will actually fit in it for daytime?

What do you think? Or do you have another suggestion in the $300 range?

  2. I would go for the Kate Spade - I love that it is more versatile, but also extremely chic - how can you go wrong with red?!

  3. Go Kate, go bold, if you are going to splurge, it makes sense to get something you will use all the time.

  6. I am 100% for the Kate Spade bag. I think anything Kate Spade is a 'splurge' even practical. It is just such a classic bag and in that color it screams chic and trendy.

  8. Hmmm....yea...I like them both and I'd lean toward the Kate Spade one but it is thin... :/ My mom and I bought my grandma a gorgeous army green Michael Kors Hamilton bag [the smaller version] this week and that's $295 I think and its a good size. It's practical but they come in fun colors and textures :D

  10. I would say the Kate Spade only b/c if you are going to splurge on something you are going to want to be able to use it a lot as in, every waking moment! The DVF is adorable, but you won't be able to use it all the time. I'd maybe ask for that one from Santa... ;)
