{ this or that }

Over the last year, I've saved gift money to use toward something ridiculously indulgent - and now I'm looking for just the right item. I've narrowed it down to two bags. While this is hardly a problem, I'm a bit torn over which one to splurge on.

In the left corner, we have a Diane von Furstenberg minaudiere ringing in at $285.

  • Elegant
  • Eliminates the need for another evening clutch for a long time
  • Smitten with navy and gold
  • Makes my heart go pitter patter
  • Will use sparingly
  • Tiny - just the right size for lipstick, iPhone, cash, and not much else

On the right, a Kate Spade handbag coming in at $295.

  • Gorgeous color
  • Practical
  • Daytime appropriate
  • Will use often
  • It doesn't feel like a splurge since it's so practical
  • Slim - how much will actually fit in it for daytime?

What do you think? Or do you have another suggestion in the $300 range?

Check out a holiday gift guide for the Beach Babe over at Bedknobs & Baubles.

  1. They are both too pretty!! Cant pick a favorite!!

  2. I would go for the Kate Spade - I love that it is more versatile, but also extremely chic - how can you go wrong with red?!
    Much love,

  3. Go Kate, go bold, if you are going to splurge, it makes sense to get something you will use all the time.

    Chic on the Cheap

  4. If I were choosing from these two bags..Kate Spade all the way!!! Its gorgeous!!

  5. Hmmm.... The DVF is my first instinct... but they are both so lovely.. And the unexpected-ness of the Kate Spade could be fun for evenings too!

  6. I am 100% for the Kate Spade bag. I think anything Kate Spade is a 'splurge' even practical. It is just such a classic bag and in that color it screams chic and trendy.

  7. My vote's for the Kate Spade! It's more versatile but still very fun - it would pop against so many outfits!

  8. Hmmm....yea...I like them both and I'd lean toward the Kate Spade one but it is thin... :/ My mom and I bought my grandma a gorgeous army green Michael Kors Hamilton bag [the smaller version] this week and that's $295 I think and its a good size. It's practical but they come in fun colors and textures :D

  9. The Kate spade one for sure. I've been looking towards getting ostrich at some point and this has a great ostrich vibe!

  10. I would say the Kate Spade only b/c if you are going to splurge on something you are going to want to be able to use it a lot as in, every waking moment! The DVF is adorable, but you won't be able to use it all the time. I'd maybe ask for that one from Santa... ;)

  11. I vote for the DVF bag. Its so unique and classic at the same time.

  12. Oh, decisions decisions! And such lovely ones at that! With a truth gun aimed at myself, I am voting for the DVF. So many great details, classic shape and color. It's timeless!

Your taste in accessories is impeccable! Can't wait to see what you decide.

  13. i'm a practical gal, so whatever can be used the most.

  14. OOOH, the DVF bag! It feels a little more special!
