Santa orchestrated a holiday surprise today with @DVF. Yesterday I Tweeted in hopes of winning an item from Diane von Furstenberg's holiday "Glisten" gift guide. And ... dramatic pause ... I won! The gorgeous mint clutch is going to find a loving home in my closet. I'm so excited and a little jittery.

During my commute on Tuesday afternoon, Dave called with a reminder to check the mail. Nestled in the mailbox wasn't a bill or stack of magazines, it was a single note proclaiming that it was the first clue to a scavenger hunt throughout our apartment. Clue after clue led me to an unexpected surprise: the Diane von Furstenberg bracelet I featured last month. Best boyfriend ever.

Seeing Red

There aren't many items that rarely take residence inside my closet, but this dress is one exception. Each time it comes home from the dry cleaner, I can barely wait to wear it again ... and again. With its breezy silhouette and tropical-inspired print, it's an easy favorite for summer. It didn't come easy, though. After spotting the sold-out dress on Net-a-Porter 2008, it took nearly eight months of eBay scouring to finally seize the piece.

It's a Virtue

Thank goodness my landlord is a patient man. I'm expecting a few packages to arrive while I'm on vacation that he'll have to sign for, including this pair of Diane von Furstenberg sandals I just picked up from Gilt.

Spring is tantalizing close, even if early morning temperatures haven't shown promise of warmer weather. All week I've left the apartment bundled in a heavy winter coat, clutching a warm coffee mug. Thankfully Mother Nature has been more accommodating during the evening commute, encouraging me to shed the winter layers.

I'm in the midst of drooling over the spring 2010 collections on Style.com. I'll eventually post my favorites for next season, but first I must devote an entire post to my fashion icon: Diane von Furstenberg.

As always, her spring collection is effortlessly chic. According to Style.com, "This season's nomad searcher is 'looking into antiquity for effortless beauty,' with Egypt and the desert on her horizon, along with a side visit to the Pre-Raphaelites."

Fall 2009 Shopping | Part Four: Purple Reign

I've harbored a long (slightly irrational) dislike for the color purple. For years, I shunned purple Crayons, grape Popsicles and lilac party dresses. In the last three years, I began warming up to the color only after my boyfriend brought me a bouquet of purple daisies on our first date. I think it's time to give in to this ultra-flattering color - especially with one of the items below.
